As Poland transitions into November, the country's weather is marked by a combination of strong winds and a marked drop in temperature, prompting the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) to issue warnings for various regions. Particularly sharp is the warning for the north of the country, where winds could gust up to 85-95 km/h, causing concern among residents.
The chilly conditions have set in after a notably mild start to the month, as Saturday saw temperatures remain relatively pleasant across most of the country. However, the situation is changing, with nighttime temperatures expected to drop significantly, especially in the southern regions, where lows could reach -6°C, compared to milder conditions on the coast with lows around 3°C.
Sunday's forecast indicates a continuation of these colder patterns, with daytime temperatures ranging from 4°C in the mountainous Podhale region to 10°C on the western border and along the seaside. The winds will predominantly blow from the south-west and west, maintaining their strength, particularly on the coast, where gusts are anticipated to peak.
Despite the wind, the weather remains dry across most of the country. The northern regions may experience brief showers, while the rest of Poland will enjoy drier conditions, although accompanied by morning fog in some areas, reducing visibility to as little as 300 meters in some cases.
As Sunday night ushers in slightly more cloud cover, temperatures will remain chilly, leading to some light frost on the ground, particularly in areas approaching the mountains. Meanwhile, gusty conditions are expected to persist, notably along the coastal areas.
The early days of November also bring the potential for rain and drizzle as the air pressure gradually falls. Areas like the Tatra Mountains might experience wind speeds escalating to 60 km/h. Residents are advised to stay informed through reliable sources and consider safety precautions, especially when traveling in severely affected regions.
